It’s been a while since I’ve managed to publish a post. I’m trying to revamp the blog, but progress is painfully slow. I can’t quite work out how I want it to look and what’s more I can never quite find the time to do it. Like many tech related things I struggle to get my head around the how and then several hours have gone past with limited progress having been made. But, I’ll plough on regardless.
A second consideration is not so much structure, as content. For those of us here in the uk and I think Europe too there are issues over what we publish. Legislation means I can no longer publish any old content I wish because some of it may turn out to be illegal and I can’t take that risk. Do I remove all the historic content (photos) that might be considered too adult or do I restrict access to my blog from people who live in the wrong place. It’s a debate I’ve been having with myself for weeks. Meanwhile the law has changed and I’ve done nothing (as yet). Taking all the photos down and then gradually reintroducing some of them will take for ever. But blocking access seems extreme.
Another thing that was putting me off working on the blog was that my laptop was showing signs of age. With sticky keys, and a particularly irritating tendency for it to put fullstops in every time I leant to heavily on the space key. I’ve been working all year and it looks like that will continue for a few months yet. So this week I’ve taken the bold decision to invest in a new MacBook Air, and what do you know? The sticky keys and the irritation with the full stops wasn’t me, so that’s a relief. Also I’d forgotten how nice it is to type on a new clean keyboard. Plus it’s fast and wizzy, so there is hope for the bog and its contents!
I like to do lots of stuff with my time, including reading, doing my cross stitch, walking and visiting family. So finding hours to sit at a keyboard and screen when I’m not working (sitting at a keyboard and screen) is a challenge. One that I don’t really relish but enjoy when, like now I’m here. Today from the comfort of my bed with G next to me sleeping. So maybe that’s the answer.
So, to sum up, the blog is work in progress and I will get it back up and running properly just as soon as I find a way to devote the time to it and think of enough great stuff to say.
